Car Credit Tampa has grown to become one of the leading used car dealerships in the Tampa area, with more than twenty years of providing excellent services to the people of the area. The company founded a charitable organization, Corzones de Car Credit, to appreciate and recognize organizations or people that assist newly immigrated persons, presenting them with $2,000 in cash or items that will help them in their efforts. The organization has rewarded over 100 organizations since it was established in 2010 and recently picked WOKE Inc as the recipient of the award for April 2020.
The spokesperson of WOKE, Amanda Ivette Cruz-Mujica, expressed her delight on the award, following a nomination by Car Credit and Cinco soccer. “Thanks to Eugenia and Stefano, we were nominated for the work WOKE does within the Tampa Bay community. WOKE, which stands for Welcoming Opportunity, Knowledge & Empowerment is a charitable organization that aims to create a community that fosters and empowers diverse young leaders to be respectful, hardworking, and upstanding citizens of the WORLD. The organization was founded by Amanda Ivette Cruz-Mujica after realizing that refugee youth often face the same social, economic, and educational barriers as their immigrant and low- income American neighbours.
The organization currently runs three programs – WOKE Tutoring, Phoenixes FC, and the WOKE Giving, serving approximately 70 to 100 kids. The WOKE Tutoring partners with USF for classroom space, focusing on different core subjects, including Math, English, History, and Science. Phoenixes FC partners with the Tampa Bay Chargers for field space and equipment, with the aim of building a community for our members. The last of the tripod, WOKE Giving, a donation distribution program that collects donations from community members in the area and distributes to the needy in the community.
WOKE is particularly known for supporting Hispanics in the community, actively contacting teams within the Latino community to schedule friendly matches. The organization also works with local food vendors within the Latin community as part of the goal of bridging the gap between all the immigrant communities.
