Wilmington, DE – Wilmington Dentist for Kids Dr. Clyde A. Maxwell, Jr., recently launched a play haven for children at his dental facility.
Dr. Maxwell, or “Dr Max” as he is affectionately known by his patients, is the owner of Gentle Touch Smiles for Kids. He wanted to help children experience a different type of dental visit instead of the common dislike of “dreading the dentist.”
“I asked myself what would make parents and children have an amazingly fun time at the dentists’ office?” said Dr Maxwell.
He came up with the idea to build a complete state-of-the-art facility designed for children of all ages, including a jungle gym, arcade games, and Delaware’s only XD Theatre.
He is making the arcade all available at no cost to his patients and families.
The “Smile Zone,” as the arcade is called, was launched last year and it became an immediate hit with children and parents.
Dr Maxwell would reward kids who keep up their dental hygiene (and even school curriculum) with “game points” which allow them to play the games.
“Children sometimes would not want to leave after their visit.” Dr Maxwell smiled.
Dr. Maxwell, who practices as a dentist for children in Wilmington DE, began his formal education at Rutgers University (New Jersey), in 1986. He received a Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 1992 from the University of Michigan. He then served in the U.S. Army Dental Corps until 1995, as the officer in charge of Dental Clinics.
Dr Maxwell has been serving children as a dentist for over 23 years in his local community.
He has been seeing the next generations of patients as many of his former patients have now become parents.
Dr Maxwell said, “Going to a dentist can be fun and happy. Children also know when they are being treated with respect and care. My staff and I are proud that we are able to bring smiles to families in more ways than dental care.”
Dr Maxwell has conducted outreach community events where he invited the underserved children to celebrate special holidays at his facility.
