WAYCLEAR Unveils Groundbreaking UVGI Air Disinfection System

A single-family home using Wayclear Pro + to purify their air in the whole house.
With customizable, LED-based UV-C air disinfection solutions for commercial, home, and industrial environments, Wayclear provides the kind of confidence our world needs right now. Wayclear’s air disinfection systems offer a safe, cost-effective, low-maintenance disinfecting option in a range of sizes and settings.

With a first-of-its-kind, LED-based UV-C technology air disinfection system, Wayclear can safely disinfect and purify the air in rooms four times per hour, meeting the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommendation for protection against the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus. Industries including health care and assisted living, hospitality, public transit, arenas, convention centers, and more can now turn to Wayclear for its portable, customizable system that provides germicidal irradiation to inactivate airborne pathogens, including the coronavirus that causes COVID-19.

Wayclear stands apart from traditional disinfection systems by creating customizable solutions that evolve to meet the challenges of a market where one size does not fit all. Independently vetted and approved by Microchem Laboratory, Wayclear’s LED-based UV-C air decontamination systems come in a range of sizes for rooms 450 square feet to 10,000 square feet. They can be simply plugged in, or permanently installed in any room to eliminate 99.9% of live airborne pathogens

“That is critical to providing businesses the ability to flip the switch on the unit, leave it alone, and let it go to work,” explained Rick Carlson Sr., the Chief Technical Officer of Wayclear. “It was vital for us to design a product that provided customers with a low-cost option for long-lasting and maintenance-free air decontamination.”

How it works

UV-C technology has been used for decades in the medical community for pathogen disinfection in places such as operating rooms. It eliminates pathogens, including the coronavirus, by altering their genetic structure, thereby preventing them from reproducing and subsequently inactivating the virus.

However, traditional UV-C technology relies on mercury vapor or pulsed xenon lamps. As these lamps operate at extremely high temperatures and must be unguarded as glass blocks UV-C, severe burns can result if the bulb is touched. They also require regular maintenance, including recommended and costly replacement bulbs every 300-1,000 hours. Wayclear, on the other hand, operates for upwards of 5 years with self-diagnostics to ensure consistent, reliable operations.

The Wayclear air disinfection system uses long-life fans to circulate air through the unit, where the air is exposed to UV-C light that deactivates airborne pathogens as they pass through the system. All UV-C energy produced remains safely contained inside the unit through Wayclear’s patented light traps.

Due to the lack of filters in Wayclear devices, the risks that come with the collection and disposal of biohazard waste are completely avoided, as is the need to maintain a record of when to change filters, and the costs associated.
