Waitlist Now Open for Huntley Square: 10 New Construction, Zero Net Energy Tiny-House Inspired Studios in Sebastopol, CA

Pendant Homes, Inc.; the Sonoma County-based startup launched to create small, high-quality, energy-efficient home ownership opportunities for the workforce, first-time home buyers, and empty nesters; today announces the opening of the for-sale waitlist for Huntley Square at pendanthomes.com

Huntley consists of 10 studio units ranging from 500 to 600 square feet a little over a mile from downtown Sebastopol. “Inside, the units will feel much larger,” said Dante Love, Founder of Pendant Homes. “In addition to the tiny house movement, Healthy Buildings, our design-build firm, took cues from France, Japan, and Sweden to maximize every square inch.”

“Think vaulted ceilings and an open floor plan. Smaller spaces create the opportunity for higher quality finishes without breaking the bank. That was my biggest takeaway from tiny houses.” Love said.

One unique feature of Huntley Square will be its use of the patented “OTechnology.” Bob Massaro, CEO of the Healthy Buildings Company and the Co-creator of OTechnology described it as “A revolutionary building system that allows homes to be built faster, stronger, and healthier.”

Another feature has garnered attention: Huntley Square plans to give preference to members of the city workforce. “We’re going to consider all applicants, but we will try – all things being equal – to help the teachers, police officers, and staff who provide vital services to the city, but have a difficult path to home-ownership here,” said Love.

Pendant is opting to open the waitlist now to gauge market interest in the project – having only completed preliminary reviews at both the planning commission and council level – regulatory hurdles remain. That said, the city has been receptive to the project. When discussing Huntley Square earlier this year Mayor Una Glass offered her support saying, “This project speaks directly to what the city has been asking for.”

Mayor Glass along with Vice Mayor Patrick Slayter and Planning Commission Vice Chair Paul Fritz recently launched a Housing Subcommittee in Sebastopol to brainstorm, among other things, creative solutions to attract new developments to the city.

City officials aren’t the only ones to take note of Huntley Square with “impact investors” looking to shift their portfolios away from fossil fuels and profit-only investments toward greener, triple-bottom line (financial, environmental, social) ventures.

Interested parties can join the waitlist by filling out a short application on pendanthomes.com/huntley-square.
