ProLife Home Care is a woman owned business operating as a New York State Medicaid Fiscal Intermediary administering the Consumer Directed Personal Assistant Program (CDPAP) throughout most New York State Counties.
CDPAP is a Medicaid funded, state-wide program, designed to be an alternative to traditional home care services. The program allows elderly, chronically ill, or disabled individuals – known as the Consumer – to select a relative, friend, neighbor, or other person of their choice to become their paid caregiver. The Consumer or the person acting on the Consumer’s behalf (such as the parent of a chronically ill or disabled child) assumes full responsibility for hiring, training, supervising, and terminating the employment of persons providing the services. Caregivers are not required to obtain any license, certificate, or special training in order to be hired.

On February 11th, 2021, the NYS Dept. of Health announced the Fiscal Intermediaries awarded as a Lead Fiscal Intermediary to continue CDPAP operations, reducing the number of eligible vendors from approximately 600 down to only 68. Although this number is expected to slightly increase in the future, Fiscal Intermediaries not awarded a contract must cease operations by November 2021 or later, as determined by the Department of Health. Existing Consumers have the right to choose a new Fiscal Intermediary and must transition to one of the awarded FI’s within the time frames to be provided in the future by DOH.
ProLife is overjoyed to announce that they are one of the select few Fiscal Intermediaries awarded a contract and they will continue delivering CDPAP services to current and new Consumers.
