Nick Wingo, Author of the Amazon Best Seller Building Grit, Announces his new give back program

The founder of Building Grit, Nick Wingo, has announced a new initiative to help bring awareness to first responders with PTSD. The program is where you buy a signed copy of the book and he will donate a copy to first responders. The book is dedicated to helping first responders with PTSD. You can also purchase multiple copies of the book through the give back program as well and they will be given to the first responders who need them most.

“Based on current literature, mental health training for first responders is severely under achieving and cultivating a piece of the current stigma in the workplace. There are minimal preventative programs, and most interventions are completed after critical incidents and retention and learning is minimal (Beshai & Carleton, 2016; Carleton, Korol et al., 2018; Ricciardelli, Andres et al., 2020). There is also a disconnect between supervisory or management staff and frontline workers regarding mental health training, stigma, and a lack of acceptance of potential mental health issues among both groups (Knaak et al., 2019; Ricciardelli, Andres et al., 2020; Ricciardelli, Czarnuch et al., 2020).”

It is a great way to both help first responders and also get a copy of the book signed by Nick Wingo himself. Wingo is passionate about spreading his message to help get first responders the resources they need. Many first responders suffer from PTSD and need help dealing with it yet our current environment is not providing the mental support needed. You can make a difference by buying the book with the give back program.

Wingo also has a podcast he is relaunched called Building Grit: Fighting the fires of PTSD, another resource to help those suffering with PTSD. He is hoping to get even more first responders involved with his give back program to bring awareness to his ultimate goal of making PTSD a workers comp issue because he believes no firefighter or first responder should have to pay for medical expenses to treat mental health issues that are caused by work.

About Building Grit:

Building Grit was created by Nick Wingo to bring firefighters and first responders the resources that they need to improve their overall mental wellbeing. After being a firefighter himself and experiencing the trauma and developing PTSD he had to find the resources himself and doesn’t want anyone else to experience that.
