ECTLC Worker Steve Preston Wins Grossmont Healthcare Hero Award

Grossmont Healthcare Hero Award is given to outstanding individuals in Healthcare including Steve Preston from East County Transitional Living Center

Steve Preston, one of East County Transitional Living Centers employees and former residents, was awarded the Grossmont Healthcare Hero Award for 2020. The award is given to volunteer care-givers and individuals who help improve health and quality of life for people in East County. Due to Coronavirus, extra precautions are being taken to celebrate this year’s healthcare heroes safely through a virtual celebration on September 16th. Steve is one of the heroes that will be recognized for his outstanding work in serving the community.

Steve Preston began his time at East County Transitional Living Center as a resident in 2013. Struggling with alcoholism for many years, Steve sought out support at ECTLC in the Men’s Program. After recovering and graduating the program, Steve dedicated the next three years to helping other men who entered the program find the peace and stability that he did. Steve went on to work as an intake specialist on the main campus of East County Transitional Living Center and now as ECTLC’s main driver for medical needs. He dedicates his time and energy to helping others and is living proof life can get better after addiction.

East County Transitional Center is honored to have wonderful workers like Steve. Helen Zamora, ECTLC’s Director of Business Development expressed her appreciation for Steve, saying, “Steve is inspirational to the men and women he meets every day, he is kind and compassionate to everyone. We are very blessed to have Steve as our friend and driver.”
