In September, Hangzhou set up a task force led by Liu Xin, mayor of Hangzhou, to develop its soccer industry. Its members include directors of the sports, education, and talent bureaus at the municipal and district levels.

Local authorities said that the task force was set up before the one-year countdown to the Asian Games Hangzhou 2022 event because they considered the Asian Games a great opportunity to expand the city’s soccer fan base.

The organizing committee of the Games said that starting from 2020, they are attracting middle and elementary schools to participate in their football camps, helping more youth realize their soccer dreams.
