In her recently published novel, “Scars of a Woman”, UK-born writer Tonyia J Bailey has weaved a story of melancholy and woe, intermixed with hints of reality to create a splendid, thriller novel. The first in a three-part series, “Scars of a Woman” sets off with a bang and keeps the readers engaged till the end. The book hit the shelves on March 16, 2020.
The story is centered around young Armah, who grapples with the unjust and tragic loss of her mother. With no help from her drunken father, Armah’s aunt comes into the picture only to make matters worse. Armah encounters great tribulations while being made to slog tirelessly by the wicked Aunt Rose.
But when her father encounters a kind Christian couple, Jonathan and Rachael Kora, the story seems to take a turn for the better. However, what seems too good to be true quickly turns into a nightmare when Armah discovers that the Kora couple is a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Confronted with these messengers straight from hell, it is not just Armah’s sanity that is now in danger, but her life too.
Tonyia keeps the reader guessing till the end with a twist at every turn. Will Armah escape the Kora’s or will she lose her life in the bargain? “Scars of a Woman” will keep the reader on the edge of their seats, feeling every emotion along the way.
“This book is incredible, to say the least. The story is so poignant, emotive, moving, and real. I’m surprised it’s fictional. The author is definitely a storyteller”, says an impressed reader.
Tonyia J Bailey’s early childhood was spent in Nigeria, where she completed high school and later studied English Linguistics at the University of Jos. In school, Tonyia showed a deep interest in reading and writing as she wrote small plays and short stories. Despite graduating with an LLB Law degree from London South Bank University, Tonyia did not relent on her dream of becoming a writer. Today her dreams are coming true with the launch of her first book.
“Scars of a Woman” will be followed by “Afraid of the Dark”, which was released May 24, 2021, and is currently available on Amazon and several other publishing sites. It will soon be followed by “Death Trap,” which will be the last book in the series.
