World Refugee Day: Uniting with Helping Hand for Relief and Development (HHRD) to Support Refugees

On June 20th each year, Helping Hand for Relief and Development (HHRD) stands alongside the United Nations (UN) to commemorate World Refugee Day, recognizing refugees worldwide.

Established 72 years ago on the 50th anniversary of the 1951 Convention Relating to the Status of Refugees, World Refugee Day serves as a global initiative by the UN to acknowledge and honor the struggles faced by refugees.

Defining Refugees

According to the International Journal of Refugee Law, refugees leave their home country due to the consequences of war, conflict, persecution, or violence experienced within their nation.

The HHRD Support for Refugees

HHRD actively collaborates with refugees across the globe, reaching out to internally and externally displaced individuals. Our diverse international team works tirelessly to alleviate the suffering of those who have endured immense hardship. Our projects encompass various initiatives such as orphan sponsorship, water programs, skills and development training, caravan homes, emergency relief protocols, and more.

Actions to Take on World Refugee Day

As part of our efforts to support those in impoverished conditions and refugee camps, HHRD offers a program where in-kind containers are sent monthly from our regional offices. On this significant day, we encourage you to visit your local Helping Hand For Relief And Development regional office and volunteer your time to help sort and pack essential resources for those in need. If you cannot access one of our regional offices, we urge you to explore the projects featured on hhrd.org and contribute to a cause that resonates with you.

Though we cannot choose the circumstances into which we are born, we have the power to make the best of what we have. Today, let us join hands and strive to improve the lives of our brothers and sisters who are doing their best with the resources available to them.
