Cajon Valley Union School District has put students’ futures as one of their top priorities. The World of Work program opens the eyes of Cajon Valley youth to the multitude of possibilities for their careers. World of Work strives to ensure that every student understands their career options and knows that they have a place in the world. Cajon Valley has teamed up with Nepris, a company that connects industry to education virtually, to bring high tech working professionals from a wide range of fields directly to Cajon Valley classrooms.
Nepris was developed out of a deep need to connect industry to education. Their mission is similar to the purpose of World of Work, to make industry engagement part of the everyday classroom by empowering teachers to engage students in STEAM. Via Nepris technology, World of Work provides teachers amazing tools and resources to implement real world STEAM application into their curriculum, and also provides teachers with the right industry professionals that can educate and inspire students in STEAM.
As the World of Work Week Live Meet-A-Pro Chats 2 wrapped up earlier this month, students had some amazing opportunities to connect with local San Diego professionals, all enjoying fulfilling careers involving STEAM. Cajon Valley visited with KPBS Studios, the design team at Raindrop Marketing, the Forensic Lab of El Cajon Police Department, the team at El Cajon Waste Management- who works hard to keep the environment clean, Heartland Fire and Rescue Paramedics, Lambs Players Theater costume designer, and carpenter Travas Brandt.
Ed Hidalgo, Chief Innovation and Engagement Officer for Cajon Valley, says it is the mission of World of Work to ensure that every child knows they each have unique strengths, interests, and values that are all needed in the world.
