Los Angeles, CA – May 3, 2018 –

Will their unexpected match result in something more?

TriCoast Entertainment presents the iconic, indie director, Alan Rudolph’s (‘Choose Me’, ‘Trouble in Mind’, ‘The Moderns’) next feature drama ‘RAY MEETS HELEN’ to nationwide theatres beginning on May 4th in several major U.S. cities, reuniting Rudolph with Keith Carradine and starring an award-winning cast of Sondra Locke, Samantha Mathis and Jennifer Tilly.

Starring Academy Award and Golden Globe winner, Keith Carradine as ‘Ray’ and Academy Award and Golden Globe nominee, Sondra Locke as ‘Helen’, ‘RAY MEETS HELEN’ is a twisted, romantic fable that “follows two sixty-somethings whose wrecked, ramshackle lives take a strange, encouraging turn after their surprise meeting,” summarized Film Ink’s Erin Free, congratulating Rudolph on his return to the big screen after 15 years.

Lonely and luckless, both Ray and Helen are stalled in their middle age years, haunted by past failed and missed opportunities as they are hampered by life’s intense material challenges. But in a bizarre turn of events, Ray and Helen transform into everything they had always hoped to be, allowing them to finally re-invent themselves; hiding their true, secret selves.

Ray, age 60-something – Ex-boxer, currently working with insurance legal work. Living in the city and looking for good conversation and a girl who enjoys dinner with a glass of wine.

Helen, age 60-something – Sweet lady that just moved to the city. Search for some of the city’s best landmarks, activities and restaurants.

Their “new”, enhanced personas are broadcasted on their Tinder profiles. Ray’s profile doesn’t mention that he still regrets the mishap that occurred during his 20s, ending his boxing career. His profile also doesn’t mention that his current work is provided by an old friend, (Keith David), who keeps him afloat after hitting rock bottom in his early career. Meanwhile, Helen’s profile has no mention of her growing up on a farm.

With a little luck, Ray and Helen both “swipe right” for each other, getting an “instant match” (noun – to match with someone as soon as you right-swipe, meaning that player had already right-swiped you).  Embodying their “new”, enhanced personas, they both become infatuated, unaware that this random collision will alter their fate and change their lives forever.

As a typically unconventional comedy drama, ‘RAY MEETS HELEN’ continues the unexpected when they let their guards down, overwhelmed and falling in love with each other’s true selves.

Ray Meets Helen is a realistic fable that takes place in the capricious, often brutal everyday world. The story unfolds and accelerates with surprise, beauty, and danger. It is both serious and comical simultaneously,” raved The Film Catalogue.

In an age where social media is everything, convenience is key and love unfortunately fades, online dating websites have jumped from sites like Match.com or eHarmony to our smartphones, introducing the first of many dating apps – Tinder.

Despite popular belief, Tinder isn’t solely a platform for horny teenagers. In fact, many over the age of 50 find themselves partaking in dating apps, especially in situations of divorcees and widows/widowers. In 2017, at least 1.5 million people over the age of 45 were using Tinder. As an easier, quicker and less stressful alternative to serious and more outdated websites like eHarmony and Match.com, the number old elderly using Tinder continues to grow rapidly, day by day.

Photo from Business Insider, November 2015 – almost 40% of Tinder users are between the ages of 45 – 64.

“Forget worrying about being single at 30. Paula Paulette is going to be 80 in April — and she’s online dating. And she’s not just looking for someone to eat ice cream and play bingo with,” opened NY Post’s Jennifer Wright.

After an extremely happy marriage of nearly 50 years, Paula Paulette is now widowed and continuing her search for love despite her elderly age.  “I would love to find another soul mate, or, at least, another man I have chemistry with, ” exclaimed Paulette. And lucky for her, (and other seniors looking for love), about 30 percent of today’s baby boomers are single and its population ages, dating web sites and apps are beginning to focus more on retirees looking for love, reported Wright

61-year-old woman, Monica Porter, opened up to the Huffington Post about her adventures on Tinder. She initially downloaded the app when it came into mainstream worldwide media in 2013, Porter stated, “I discovered that Tinder automatically takes some basic details from your Facebook profile, including your correct age, I cringed with embarrassment. I knew this Tinder business was a young person’s game. I’d be laughed out of court.”

But, Porter was pleasantly surprised that age had no effect, even when “Tindering” (verb – to use Tinder) with younger men. In fact, a surprising number of players identify their correct ages in their “taglines” (noun – The open-ended area for text below a player’s photos, which has no character limit. This is where you can write a little bit about yourself). “Most striking is the large number of men in their mid-to-late 30s who have not yet settled into long-term relationships,” observed Porter, adding that as Tinder has aged, it is no longer “dedicated forum for randy young guys and lovelorn girls [but has] evolved into a proper microcosm of our society, and the over-50s — so many of whom are footloose and fancy-free after relationship break-ups — have taken to it with a vengeance.”

Will the two “swipe right” for each other? Or will there be a Tinder “flake-out”? (Noun: when two players agree on a date, time and location for a drink or a meal IRL but then someone ignores a confirmation text or both parties simply forget to follow up and the date passes and nothing happens.)
