VARIETY REPORTS: \”FILM NEWS ROUNDUP: MIKE TYSON’S ‘CHINA SALESMAN’ BOUGHT FOR NORTH AMERICA\”, FEATURING TRICOAST WORLDWIDE & STUDIOS

“CHINA SALESMAN // TRICOAST WORLDWIDE”
Chinese films are the new “in” for Hollywood films, reports The Hollywood Reporter, Wall Street Journal, Variety and more – all with mention of Director Tan Bing’s $20 million USD ‘China Salesman’.

Los Angeles, CA – January 25, 2018 – China is stealing the Hollywood spotlight. With the first month of the New Year coming to a close, worldwide film industries are acquiring and booming with Chinese films as Hollywood directors and producers step out of the spotlight.

Despite many U.S. studios’ struggle to adapt to the new Chinese film market environment and bridge between the Chinese and Western cultures, several brave companies are ready for the new and exciting content.

“Given the enormous upside of breakout Chinese films… many insiders have come to conclude that the Hollywood majors are missing a huge opportunity by failing to pursue the local-language space with greater urgency,” wrote Patrick Bzresk from The Hollywood Reporter.

From Alex Ritman’s Variety article in November to Erich Schwartzel’s recent Wall Street Journal article, each touch on Director Tan Bing’s $20 million USD action-packed film, “CHINA SALESMAN”, featuring the highly anticipated and spectacular fight scene between Aikido sensation, Steven Seagal and former heavyweight champ, Mike Tyson.

Now, “CHINA SALESMAN” is headlined in film-famous publication, Variety, for the exclusive on the film’s acquisition. Dave McNary from Variety reported, “Cleopatra Entertainment has acquired North American rights to the adventure “China Salesman,” starring Mike Tyson, Steven Seagal, Dong-Xue Li, Janicke Askevold, Li Ai, and Eriq Ebouaney.”

Produced by China’s Wanda Corp., “CHINA SALESMAN” is co-financed by Chinese conglomerate Dalian Wanda Group from six Oscar comedy, ‘La La Land’, Summit Entertainment’s ‘John Wick’, and Lionsgates’ ‘Power Rangers’. Alongside, “CHINA SALESMAN” is co-financed by TIK and China’s state-run, China Film Group.

“’China Salesman’” will be released theatrically on April 20 and on VOD platforms on May 1. The deal was brokered by Cleopatra’s CEO Brian Perera and Tim Yasui with TriCoast Worldwide on behalf of the filmmakers,” – reported McNary.

As only the very beginning to an enormous breakout of Chinese titles, TriCoast Worldwide will also be representing Bing’s newest project, “FATAL CONTRACT”, featuring Jacky ZhaoBai Ling, and Xuan Miao.
