Los Angeles, CA – March 29, 2018 – Alan Rudolph’s drama ‘RAY MEETS HELEN’, will be released nationwide by TriCoast Entertainment on May 4, Variety has learned exclusively.
Celebrated indie film director for previous titles including, ‘Choose Me’ (1984), ‘Trouble in Mind’ (1985), ‘The Moderns’ (1988), and ‘Mrs. Parker and the Vicious Circle’ (1994), Rudolph’s next feature drama, ‘RAY MEETS HELEN’, will be nationally released by TriCoast Entertainment and their CEOs, Strathford Hamilton and Marcy Levitas Hamilton.
Starring Academy Award and Golden Globe winner, Keith Carradine and Academy Award and Golden Globe nominee, Sondra Locke, alongside Samantha Mathis, Keith David, and Academy Award nominee, Jennifer Tilly, ‘RAY MEETS HELEN’ will begin its theatrical release on May 4th in New York and Los Angeles, with several major U.S. cities on deck.
‘RAY MEETS HELEN’ bears Rudolph’s signature hallmarks of intertwining characters whose lives will be altered by their meeting and the element of chance. Both Ray (Carradine) and Helen (Locke)are each stalled in their middle age years, haunted by past failed and missed opportunities as they are hampered by life’s intense material challenges.
In bizarre, unrelated turns of events – or a “reversal of fortune” – Ray and Helen each undergo a reversal of fortune, affording them unanticipated opportunities at self re-invention. When the two unexpectedly cross paths, each become seduced and misled by each other’s “new”, and by some measures, enhanced, persona.
However, the life’s ability to strip away their newly adopted, external trappings find Ray and Helen doing something even more unexpected – falling in love with each other’s true selves.
Producers for ‘RAY MEETS HELEN’ are Ernst “Etchie” Stroh of Moonstone Entertainment, who also produced Rudolph’s Academy Award-nominated feature, ‘AFTERGLOW’, and Steven J. Wolfe (‘500 Days of Summer’) of Sneak Preview Entertainment, with Lesley Ann Warren, Keith Carradine and Sondra Locke as executive producers. The film was originally released on October 9th, 2017 at the Haifa Film Festival in Israel.
