Best known from NBC’s The Blacklist, Harry Lennix’s (Man of Steel, The Matrix) Revival! is an imaginative retelling of the gospel according to John the Apostle that features original and contemporary gospel music from an all-star cast. Describing Lennix’s newest project as “phenomenal” and “one in which he has really poured his heart and soul into”, Revival! “retells about this genuine and unique Black American spirituality,” reported Laura Coates, a prominent CNN legal analyst, best selling author and host of SiriusXM’s The Laura Coates Show.
But, Revival! isn’t distinctively about religion, but rather, “about spirituality and the resilience of people who find themselves. Franchised by different policies and life and are refusing to cross the figurative isles and understand humanity and other people,” described Coates.
As a fantasia of vibrant visuals, powerhouse vocals and an innovative approach to the greatest story every told, Revival! is a stylistic blend of Broadway musical, epic historical drama and green screen technology, interwoven with the traditional biblical-based storytelling, modern day imagery and emotionally-captivating performances. Written by gospel star, Mali Music, Revival! features sensational gospel and R&B performances by 10-time Grammy winner, Chaka Khan (The Blues Brothers), BET and Imagine nominee, Michelle Williams (Destiny’s Child), award-winning Dawnn Lewis (Dreamgirls), Siedah Garrett (writer for “Man in the Mirror”), Wendy Raquel Robinson (The Game, The Steve Harvey Show) and T’Keyah Crystal Keymáh (In Living Color), whose voices enhance the film’s innovative approach, transcending time and space.

Revival! will have it’s world premiere on Monday, Dec. 4th at The Museum of The Bible in Washington, DC. The evening will begin with a VIP cocktail reception and red carpet, followed by performances featuring the film’s stars in advance of the evening’s 7:30 screening. Opening to the US on Dec. 7th, Revival! will show in theaters in New York, Atlanta, Chicago, Philadelphia, Miami, Houston, Detroit, Dallas and Los Angeles. In January, it will expand to screens in Memphis, Baltimore, New Orleans, Norfolk, St. Louis, San Francisco, Cleveland, Orlando, Boston, Tampa, Milwaukee and Memphis, with additional theaters soon to later be announced.
