The Writing District – an educational platform for writers – is inviting people from across the globe to send in their short story submissions for its annual award

The Writing District has announced that the judge for its annual short story competition – which has a prize fund of $1,000 for 1st place – will be W.T. Paterson, a three-time Pushcart nominee whose writing has appeared in over 80 publications worldwide.

Paterson will be judging entries for the 2023 competition, with writers from around the world being invited to send in their submissions before the deadline of May 31st, 2023.

The Writing District Prize 2023

The Writing District has opened the submissions window for its annual short story competition.

The 1st Prize winner will receive an award of $1000, as well as publication on The Writing District website.

Two runners-up will receive $100 each, plus publication on the site.

Those who wish to compete can send in their short fiction submissions via Duotrope. (Find full details on how to submit here.)

Writers can write about any subject, theme, or genre, but their submissions must not be any longer than 3,000 words. Full formatting guidance can be found on the Writing District website.

As this is an international competition, writers from any nationality can submit their short stories. However, stories must be written in English to be considered for the award.

The competition will be judged anonymously, so first-time writers or previously unpublished writers are strongly encouraged to send in their submissions – as well as established authors.

The entry fee for the Writing District’s 2023 competition is $15.
