The Stylings of Mother Goose Meet Dr. Seuss

““They have feel-good endings, because after all, who says the cradle has to fall?” asks Cassandra Lennox, who began creating the series after reciting Rock-A-Bye Baby to her young son, Joey.”
Re-imagined Nursery Rhymes Modernizing a Tradition

Book Release Date: April 2nd, 2019

Luzerne, PA – Apr 2, 2019 – Cassandra Lennox, Luzerne Pennsylvania Author of Mama Kangaroo Nursery Rhymes for Modern Times is launching an evolution in nursery rhymes with dynamic, upbeat verse and a modern-day take on the classics. The newly released More Nursery Rhymes for Modern Times adds 25 rhymes to the series, building a bridge between tradition and today by transforming the dark rhymes of the past into fun verse that is relevant now.

For hundreds of years, nursery rhymes have been a staple of childhood. With changing times, many of the concepts and visuals in the old rhymes have become difficult to understand and relate to, especially for children, and some are downright bewildering.

Lennox strives to strengthen adult-child bonds and retain tradition by taking the themes and rhyme schemes of classic rhymes and songs and using them to inspire new versions that add positivity, practicality, encouragement, and amusement. One thing that has not changed over time is the value of reading to children at a young age. Instilling a love of books helps to create a solid foundation for growing up, and Mama Kangaroo does that in a heartfelt and modern way, that includes silliness and even some parental humor.

“They have feel-good endings, because after all, who says the cradle has to fall?” asks Cassandra Lennox, who began creating the series after reciting Rock-A-Bye Baby to her young son, Joey.

In addition to Mama Kangaroo and her four kangaroo kids, the books feature numerous animal and human characters and relatable situations that combine entertainment, imagination, and learning.
