The old cement factory turned into an art city

The Art Innovation Town in Hangzhou China, capital of East China’s Zhejiang province, is the nation’s first art innovation town that had been built from an obsolete cement factory.

In 2015, the government of Xihu district partnered with the China Academy of Art and Zhejiang Conservatory of Music to build the town.

The architectural design of the town features a combination of modern and industrial elements. Advanced technologies were applied in road signs to help guide visitors.

High-standard property services are provided for companies operating in the town. Food served at the restaurant in the town undergoes strict supervision every day to ensure food safety.

During the COVID-19 outbreak, the authorities of the town purchased more than 110,000 sets of medical supplies to help companies resume normal production. The town is also building 67 apartments to accommodate skilled workers.

In 2020, the town started to focus on attracting companies in the field of network media, comics and games, as well as livestreaming e-commerce.

Hangzhou Qiteng Network Technology Co, which was founded in November 2015, is Xihu district’s first livestreaming company. Due to the town’s sound business climate and high-standard services, the company moved its headquarters into the town.

As of October 2020, the town had introduced 172 projects, with 851 million yuan ($131.82 billion) in registered capital. It had also introduced 125 high-caliber workers from China and overseas, as well as six innovation teams.
