Dr. Potts has been practicing for over twenty years and is currently the Founder and President of Cognitive Dynamics Foundation in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Furthermore, he is serving patients as an attending neurologist at Tuscaloosa VA Medical Center. Dr. Potts is a noted neurologist, author, educator, and champion of those with Alzheimer’s disease and their caregivers.
Dr. Potts studied for his doctor degree of medicine at the University Of South Alabama College Of Medicine and graduated in 1993. He is board certified in neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Neurology. Dr. Potts maintains active memberships with the Alzheimer’s Association, the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, the American Stroke Association, and the American Society of Neuroimaging. Dr. Potts is also coauthor of A Pocket Guide for the Alzheimer’s Caregiver and one of Maria Shriver’s Architects of Change.
Over the years, Dr. Potts was honored with multiple awards, including Advocate of the Year by the American Academy of Neurology in 2008, Patients’ Choice Award, and Most Compassionate Physician. He credits his success to always wanting to honor the dignity within each human being. In his spare time, he dedicates to hiking, music, and singing. Furthermore, Dr. Potts is a Clinical Adjunct Assistant Professor at the University of Alabama College of Community Health Sciences, Adjunct Faculty Member at the University of Alabama Honors College, Affiliate Faculty Member at the Alabama Research Institute on Aging at the University of Alabama, and Adjunct Faculty Member in the Department of Neurology at the University of South Alabama College of Medicine.
