More Than a Village: A Family Values Recipe for Success

March 4, 2019 – David D. Harris, a renowned educator and public speaker proudly announces the launch of his book titled More Than a Village on Tuesday 5th of March 2019. The book serves as a guide to help people understand, particularly those living in urban environments, that there are family values embedded in all aspects of life that include but are not limited to cultures, businesses, industries, sports teams, and even gangs.

“More Than a Village talked about my transition from Boyhood to Manhood and sheds light on the fact that not all “urban” city kids grow up struggling with poverty and bad influences. My inner-city experience, by God’s grace, was quite good actually and that made believe that anyone can succeed in life as long as they activate a distinctive set of family values listed in the book, from positive, optimistic and progressive sources,” says David.

More Than a Village offers some expertise to help parents, guardians, teenagers, adolescents, and children gain insight into the best practices for activating family values.  Fortunately, we all get family values from a specific source and choosing the right values is the key to success in life.  David calls it a Family Values Recipe for Success, which if followed will not only create stability for our youth but also reset the moral compass for families in urban America.  The author speaks from experience because he is an individual who succeeded despite growing up in a “village” where the odds were stacked against him.

In More Than a Village, David delivers a glimpse into his middle-class, two-parent household as a young boy of color raised in the City of Detroit. Although parts of Detroit is infamously known for violence, crime, and poverty, David presents a more positive perspective of his inner-city childhood on West 7 Mile Road and thanked his parents who have been married for 32 years. By implementing some of his family values and reading a story that is optimistically written, David hopes More Than a Village will inspire people to take on each day as an adventure in spite of their geographical location, socio-economic status or family structure.
