Takara Hospice Expands its Range of Services to Address the Unique Needs of Each Patient
Takara Hospice launches an addition to its end-of-life program with a holistic approach.

Takara Hospice has extended its program to include a more holistic care plan. The program caters to the emotional, spiritual, and physical needs. Hospice care in San Diego has always included family, friends, and the wishes of the person approaching the end of their journey.

Takara takes it one step further by offering a complete program that treats the whole person, not just palliative care. They want the public to know that hospice is not giving up. Each case is unique.

Takara’s vision is to walk alongside the family and their loved ones and allow them to take that journey at their own pace.

There are trained professionals with a combination of compassion and skills that can cater to the diverse needs of loved ones and their families. They realized a need for a little more, so the extension was born.

Takara prides itself on compassionate service with honesty and integrity, excellent communication in an open, safe environment, and ethical behavior.

They take care to acknowledge the special needs of their unique patients. They have many steps on their journey that need accommodation. The families and close friends need help through the process.

Treating the whole support system leaves the patient with a more peaceful journey. They don’t have to worry about how others deal with what’s happening.

Takara’s research and experience have shown them that each person involved will have their grief rate and method. Training highly-qualified, compassionate people creates an environment of comfort for all as a unit and a more peaceful journey for the patient. They can be more accepting of their situation than their loved ones. So, this extension relieves that issue as much as possible.

Available Programs and Services

The programs and services available are:

  • Social Work and Bereavement Programs.

Social workers listen when the family and friends need to talk. At Takara, they’ll work with the Veterans Administration and other agencies and staff to coordinate the patient’s care.

  • Hospice Aides.

The aids take care of the feeding, bathing, dressing, and basic needs. They’re there to keep the patient company, to talk, and make them feel cared for.

  • Volunteer Matchmaking.

The company matches the patient with volunteers with similar interests; pet visits and companion visits are some examples.

  • Spiritual Care.

Takara understands that everyone deserves to have their spiritual needs met. Chaplains offer different traditions and belief systems to accommodate most patients. They can lend an ear to listen, provide spiritual counseling, and guidance.
