Ty Supancic is the new President of Family Divorce Solutions, an organization of attorneys, mental health professionals, and financial experts who help guide couples through the collaborative divorce process.
Mr. Supancic served as Vice-President under Leslie K. Howell, who now sits on the Board of Directors as the immediate past president. Mr. Supancic’s second-in-command is Darlene Wanger as Vice-President.
Mr. Supancic is a family law attorney specializing in Collaborative Divorce and Consensual Dispute Resolution. Mr. Supancic is also self-educated as he studied law on his own without attending law school. He passed the California Bar after working as a collaborative law paralegal.
“That the members of Family Divorce Solutions chose to elect me as President is both humbling and awe-inspiring. I appreciate their faith in me. I follow in the footsteps of some great leaders. In particular, I appreciate Leslie and her leadership. I learned much from her and plan to consult her regularly as we move forward,” Mr. Supancic said.
The attorney also serves on several committees within Family Divorce Solutions. He encourages the members to reach out to him and the rest of the Board with ideas to better the organization, grow the membership and improve the collaborative divorce process.
Ms. Wanger has practiced family law for 15 years with some of the top firms in the state. Now she is a partner in Kaplan | Wanger LLP in Century City. As vice president, she will follow the lead of Mr. Supancic and handle duties he assigns as well as represent the organization when Mr. Supancic cannot be present. She will be President in 2023.
“I am looking forward to this year. I know Ty is a capable leader and will help us grow. I look forward to helping him implement his agenda for the association,” she said.
Stephanie Maloney is the Treasurer. She is responsible for managing the Association’s money and making regular financial reports to the Board. Ms. Maloney is a CDFA, CFP and serves as a Collaborative Financial Neutral in Collaborative Divorces as well as mediations.
Barbara Irshay Zipperman serves as Secretary. She is responsible for keeping accurate minutes of meetings, organizing information and assisting Mr. Supancic and the rest of the Board. She is a family law attorney.
As immediate past president, Ms. Howell will work with Mr. Supancic to integrate her goals as president into his vision for the Association. Ms. Howell is a collaborative divorce lawyer and mediator. She enjoys singing jazz.
Alex Weinberger is the past president and will work with the new Board and provide advice from the things he learned during his time on the Board. He is an MBA, CFP and CDFA.
Dr. James Walton is a past president and member-at-large of the Board. He has been in practice for over 30 years and has a private psychotherapy practice in the San Fernando Valley. He specializes in communication skills and anger management. Dr. Walton has a doctorate in Clinical Psychology, a master’s degree in Family Therapy and an MBA in Global Management.
