SLIM CD Teams with ID TECH to Pioneer \”Plug and Play\” Chip Card Acceptance

SLIM CD’s latest pre-certified EMV solution means developers treat chip data like keystrokes.

Coral Springs, FL – Jan 23, 2018 – SLIM CD, Inc., a software developer and service provider, has succeeded in creating the fastest possible path to EMV compliance with its latest certifications of the patent-pending ID TECH Augusta card reader, which can operate in Keyboard Emulation mode, even with chip cards.

The ability to treat chip cards as sources of “keystroke data” not only radically simplifies development, but creates a quick, plug-and-play path to EMV compliance for merchants. All swiped and chip data is encrypted by the hardware, so merchant POS or cloud-based systems never touch the unencrypted data.

“Payment application developers are astonished to learn how easy it is to integrate an encrypting, EMV-capable reader into their POS environments using this pre-certified technology,” said Justin Ning, Vice President of Product Management/Marketing for ID TECH.  He continued: “The ID TECH patent-pending Augusta card reader can keep the POS software out of scope for PA-DSS for this encrypted data and minimizes the impact of PCI for merchants.”

“With its unique ability to output chip card data as keystrokes, ID TECH’s Augusta is an industry first, and we’re proud to bring this breakthrough to the market”, said Sami Slim, President and CEO of SLIM CD, Inc.  He continued: “Merchants have been demanding a faster, easier, lower-cost path to chip card acceptance, and this is by far the quickest, most cost-effective path to EMV compliance that exists, bar none. We now are able to offer a pre-certified, semi-integrated solution for use with multiple major US payment processors, so merchants can begin using secure EMV technology immediately.”

“ID TECH’s patent-pending Augusta is a natural for merchants wanting to upgrade to EMV,” said ID TECH Product Manager Vince Steffano, “because it’s affordable, reliable, secure, and works without any special drivers. There’s no learning curve. No setup. You just plug it in, insert a chip card, and voila! Augusta outputs encrypted track data for direct consumption by SLIM CD’s APIs.”

Frank Haggar, Director of Product Development for SLIM CD, Inc. explained: “Developers can simply collect data from the Augusta in the same manner as they already collect MSR data, then send that data to SLIM CD for processing.  Our servers handle all the rest, including receipt generation.  The developer does not need to write new code to begin accepting EMV transactions.  Their current integration with SLIM CD can handle the EMV transactions on their behalf. For developers not yet integrated with SLIM CD, the tools we provide allow them to integrate in minutes, rather than weeks, by using traditional methods of accepting card swipe data.  This provides the easiest and fastest possible EMV solution that can work with either POS systems or web/cloud based virtual terminals.”

The ID TECH patent-pending Augusta works with SLIM CD’s payment gateway, the Slim CD web-based virtual terminal, Slim CD Hosted Payment Pages, Slim CD’S Invoicing System and the “Slim CD for PC” desktop software. The rich SLIM CD product suite also includes “SlimCD for iPhone”, “SlimCD for Android”, and a shopping cart.  All products support End-to-End Encryption (E2EE) services, cloud-based tokenization and data storage, and more. The Slim CD for PC desktop applications run on any personal computer with internet connectivity.
