Sino-Ukrainian sci-tech exchange conference opens in Hangzhou

A bilateral science and technology exchange conference between China and Ukraine kicked off in Hangzhou, capital of East China’s Zhejiang province, on Nov 14, local media outlets reported.

Zhanna Leshchynska, Charge d’Affaires of Ukraine in China, presented the certificate of foreign academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine to Feng Changgen, director of the Paton Welding Technology Research Institute in Zhejiang province. The Center of Advanced Welding Technologies of the research institute was also unveiled at the event.

Leshchynska stressed the importance of developing a strategic partnership between Ukraine and China, in particular in the field of science and technology. She also expressed wishes to Ukrainian and Chinese scientists finding success in their joint work.

Sino-Ukrainian cooperation in the field of science and technology, especially in the fields of materials and welding, has spanned more than 70 years.

The Paton Welding Technology Research Institute in Zhejiang province, which was established in Hangzhou in 2020 by winning solid financial, technical, and talent support from government at all levels, focuses on smart manufacturing. It aims to boost the transformation and upgrading of Chinese industrial enterprises.

The conference was held as part of the ongoing 2021 World Youth Scientists Summit, which opened in Wenzhou, Zhejiang province on Nov 13.
