Singapore – February 9th, 2018 – Flame Of The Forest, a world music band from Singapore, has announced its new track release, ‘Train to Euston’. The band is also working on a new album, ‘Tree of Life’, to be released in late 2018.
‘Train to Euston’ is a single release, composed and finished entirely during a train ride between Birmingham and Euston, London. The lines and arrangement of the composition are influenced by the medley of different cultures and people that can be witnessed in a single place. This piece of music features rhythmic citations known as ‘Konakol’ that are used in Indian classical music.
FOTF has recently emerged as a one-stop destination for a wide variety of entertainment events and venues, playing live Singapore’s contemporary and traditional melodies and genres. Since 2015, FOTF has showcased Singapore’s rich culture on stage for a wide variety of audiences. The band has made itself available for music composing, AV support, workshops, award ceremonies, grand openings and gala dinners and personal events such as weddings, birthdays and festivals.

“Our objective is to showcase Singapore’s culture through music by infusing multiple genres with traditional sounds, creating whole new musical sensibilities while keeping the music appreciable by audiences,” says a representative from FOTF.
FOTF is currently looking at joining hands with musicians as well as artists from other domains to present a fusion of the East and West in ways that are fresh, unique and never been done before.
As trends change, good music still lasts decades, and this belief underlies the work of FOTF in promoting their love of music. Flame of the Forest is dedicated to producing more original materials, and they hope to promote world music both locally and abroad through their performances.
As an instrumental world music band originating from the Sunny Island of Singapore, Flame of the Forest was formed in 1986 by the trio of Kenny Tan, K. Subramanian and Nantha Kumar. The band was later re-invigorated by Krsna Tan and Govin Tan, who overcame obstacles to infuse new blood and fresh musical perspectives. The current lineup consists of Krsna Tan (Sitar), Govin Tan (Tabla Kit), Jeffrey Tan (Violin), Caleb Koa (Keyboard), Andy Chong (Electric Guitar) & Arthur Adika Wiyono (Electric Bass).
