On the afternoon of April 7th, Beijing Shougang Giane New Materials Co., Ltd. solemnly held the 2026 Science and Technology Innovation Conference in the conference room of the comprehensive building, following the spirit of the opening of the “Seventy Years of SPARK Chasing the Light New Journey” series. This conference is an important part of the company’s 70th anniversary celebration series. It is not only a deep practice of Shougang Group’s spirit of leading and integrating, but also an anchor for the annual development direction with scientific and technological innovation, creating technological innovation as the first competitive advantage of Giane, and laying a solid foundation for the milestone conference of the establishment of the company on April 8th.
Members of the company’s leadership team, heads of various functional departments, production operation areas, electric heating research institutes, as well as all scientific research backbones and commended advanced representatives attended the meeting. The meeting fully implemented the spirit of the “Two Sessions” of the group and the joint-stock company, as well as the spirit of the company’s fourth and eighth employee representative conferences, anchored the key nodes of IPO listing and the high-quality development goals of the “15th Five Year Plan”, clarified the development path, deployed core work, commended advanced models, and consolidated a strong force to lead the high-quality development of enterprises with technological innovation.
Party Secretary and Chairman Li Gang gave a special speech on “Carrying Forward the Spirit of ‘Enhancing Glory’ and Continuously Building Leading Advantages in Electric Heating”. Combining the spirit of adding glory and the scientist spirit of “innovation unlimited, maintaining leadership”, Li Gang gave a key explanation on the origin of the unique spirit of Giane Company. He said that in the past 2025, we have laid a solid foundation in scientific and technological innovation, established a process technology research room, a user technology research room, an electric heating new material research room, and a welding research room, and upgraded the research and development center into an electric heating research institute, laying a solid organizational foundation for Giane’s scientific and technological innovation. The construction of the laboratory and the configuration of research and development testing instruments and equipment have begun to take shape, with a research investment of nearly 8%. A group of young master’s and doctoral talents who are determined to root in electric heating innovation have been introduced and trained. Breakthroughs and progress have been made in five projects, including ODS electric heating materials and research on the improvement of electric slag heavy melting slag systems. The company has won one second prize in Shougang Science and Technology Innovation Award, and Giane Company has been awarded the “Single Champion” by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
Li Gang put forward five requirements on how to do a good job in scientific and technological innovation in 2026.
1. Effectively enhance the sense of mission and responsibility
Every technological leap in the field of electric heating and every leap in new quality productivity stem from the persistent pursuit of core technologies. The establishment of the Electric Heating Research Institute and its four major research laboratories is aimed at supporting the company’s innovative development, the construction of Shougang’s new material sector, and leading national electric heating technology. All R&D personnel must engrave the spirit of “glory enhancement” and the innovative gene of “unlimited innovation to maintain leadership” into their bones and blood. This is the determination, confidence, and momentum of our work. We must take on the mission of self-reliance and self-improvement in electric heating technology, and deeply carve out and strive for excellence in R&D projects.
2. To establish roots in the field of electric heating and electric heating production lines
Li Gang emphasized that there are quite a few newcomers in the research institute, whether they are colleagues from various research rooms or those engaged in technical and quality work. No matter which university you graduate from or where you come from, when you come to Giane, you must go from “heart” to “Giane person”, establish a deep trust with Giane company and colleagues around you, and travel in both directions. As a comrade in the research institute, we must make up our minds and put in effort to truly intern and familiarize ourselves with the on-site and production lines of Giane. We must also make up our minds and put in effort to understand and familiarize ourselves with electric heating products and the electric heating field. We must “take root” in the electric heating field and the electric heating production line. Only by rooting ourselves in the electric heating field, electric heating technology, and electric heating production line can we gradually “connect theory with practice”, combine with the “on-site market”, gradually “focus” on the electric heating field, gradually become a “professional”, and eventually grow into an electric heating “expert”, and possibly become an “electric heating scientist”.
3. We must adhere to the strictness and practicality of scientific research work
The “Three Strictnesses and Three Realities” requirement proposed by General Secretary Xi Jinping is also the fundamental guideline for our scientific research work and the key to the current research and development of new materials. Strict “is a requirement for the scientific research process, which requires a rigorous scientific attitude, strict technical standards, and rigorous process management; ‘Practicality’ is the requirement for scientific research results, and the demand should come from the real scene of the site and market. Research and development should be practical and not superficial, and the results should be able to be implemented and truly effective. The true success of scientific research is never achieved by a sudden burst of inspiration, but by accumulating small victories to achieve great success. Everyone should calm down, sit on the cold bench, have the determination and patience to “sharpen a sword in ten years”, dig deep into details, identify the root causes of problems, and for some difficult problems, we must understand the core logic of success or failure, seek truth, correct solutions, and extreme solutions, so as to understand the nature, reason, and inevitability of the situation, and resolutely prevent floating on the surface and blindly touching the elephant. 4. Connect “market venue site” for research and development
