April 8th is the anniversary of Shougang Gitane’s factory. Gitane has gone through 70 years of history, from establishment to breakthrough, to bringing glory to the country, and now has embarked on a new path of glory. The Party Committee of Gitane Company has planned a series of celebration activities in order to inherit the spirit of “adding glory” and “innovation”, continue to strive, and build a century old Gitane. In late spring, the clear sunshine and wind send memories. On the afternoon of April 6th, during the Qingming Festival, the company held a symposium on the spirit of scientists at the Fu Jie Library of Shougang Gitane Electric Heating Research Institute. Li Gang, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the Company, and Tao Ke, Deputy General Manager, gathered together with young technical and management backbones who have been committed to scientific research and production during the Qingming Festival holiday. They paid tribute to Mr. Fu Jie, one of the founders of the company’s technology, in two categories: large and small. They decoded the core of the spirit of the older generation of scientists, clarified the path of spiritual inheritance at the new starting point of the 70th anniversary, and laid a solid spiritual foundation for the entire factory anniversary series of activities.
In the name of Mr., establish the root of spirit
Pushing open the door on the right side of the fourth floor of Gitane Company’s Electric Heating Research Institute, you can see a smiling bronze statue standing between two rows of books, with an elegant bouquet of flowers placed in front of the statue. This is a tribute presented by Professor Guo Hanjie and his disciples to the statue of Mr. Fu Jie.
This symposium is divided into two parts, one of which is the library named after Mr. Fu Jie, inheriting the inseparable bloodline connection between the older generation of scientists such as Mr. Fu Jie, Gitane, and the Chinese electric heating material industry.

Mr. Fu Jie is a pioneer in the field of electric heating materials in China and one of the core founders of Shougang Gitane’s technological development. In the last century, he led his team to break through foreign technological monopolies and conquer the core production technology of iron chromium aluminum electric heating alloys from scratch. This not only laid the foundation for the independent development of China’s electric heating material industry, but also laid the foundation for Gitane’s development from catching up to leading, from technological breakthroughs to adding glory to the country. Behind Mr. Fu Jie, his lover gifted his entire collection of books and honorary medals to the Gitane Company, the land where he once fought hard. In order to inherit his scientific spirit of seeking truth and practicality, and his original aspiration of serving the country through industry, the company established the Fu Jie Library in the Electric Heating Research Institute, preserving his precious manuscripts, collections, and scientific research achievements. This has also become the core battlefield for Gitane people to inquire about their original aspirations and inherit their spirit.
Experience firsthand the essence of memories and decode the source of spirit
Li Gang, the Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the company, deeply explained the core significance of this symposium as the beginning of the factory anniversary series activities, and clarified the inheritance path of the spirit of the older generation at the symposium.
Li Gang emphasized that in the wind and rain, Gitane Company has gone through 70 years. The core of this symposium is to first seek roots, then move forward, first clarify the original intention, and then embark on a new journey. The older generation of Gitane people not only left us with leading technological accumulation and solid industrial foundation, but also two unique spiritual treasures of Gitane Company: the first is the spirit of “adding glory to the country”. From the original intention of the older generation of Gitane people to serve the country in industry to the mission of building a benchmark for Chinese electric heating materials in the new era, this patriotic sentiment rooted in the electric heating field and electric heating production lines has never changed; The second is Mr. Fu Jie’s innovative spirit of “unlimited innovation and maintaining leadership”, which is the core password for Gitane to catch up and lead the industry in the past 70 years, and also the original intention that we must adhere to when embarking on a new journey.
Regarding how to truly inherit the spirit, Li Gang said that inheritance is never a slogan and must be implemented in practice. One is to adhere to the essence of seeking truth and pragmatism. In the face of technical difficulties and production problems, we must understand their nature, reasons, and inevitability, thoroughly understand the root causes of success and failure, and grasp the underlying logic. With a “serious” attitude, we should seek “true solutions”, “correct solutions”, and “extreme solutions”; Secondly, we need to integrate the spirit of “innovation leads endlessly” represented by Fu Jie into the entire process of production, operation, and technological innovation. The upcoming kickoff meeting for technological innovation, the establishment meeting of the Factory Celebration Day Co., Ltd., and subsequent work are all practices and extensions of the spirit of our predecessors; Thirdly, we must continue to strengthen the Fu Jie Library as a spiritual stronghold, gradually supplementing the scientific research and innovation achievements of Gitane in the new era, so that the spiritual spark of the older generation can continue to shine and be passed down from generation to generation in the hands of the new generation of Gitane people.
Remembering the spirit through personal experience, understanding the importance of inheritance
Another symposium on inheriting the spirit of Mr. Fu Jie was also held in the company’s large conference room. More than 60 members of the company’s leadership team, middle-level cadres, scientific and technological innovation talents, and front-line technical backbones attended the meeting.
At the symposium, General Manager Li Hongli and Deputy General Manager Tao Ke respectively reflected on Mr. Fu Jie‘s scientific research spirit that spanned time through personal experiences. They recalled that more than ten years ago at the production site, Mr. Fu Jie stood up to public opinion and firmly proposed that the double electric slag process was more suitable for large-scale production of iron chromium aluminum than the vacuum smelting process, and led the development of corresponding manufacturing processes. After more than ten years of market and industry testing, this process is still the core advantage that cannot be replicated by peers in Gitane’s iron chromium aluminum products, laying a strong and solid technological moat for Gitane Company.
Our predecessors are as strong as lamps, and our youth relay forward. At the symposium, young employees from different positions such as scientific research, production, and equipment shared their understanding and practice of Fu Jie’s spirit based on their own work experience. Every sentence was a heartfelt expression, and every word demonstrated their sense of responsibility.
You Xiaomin, Director of the Process Technology Department at the Electric Heating Research Institute, shared her understanding of the original intention of technology and the commitment to innovation, using the recently popular Zhang Xueji car as a starting point. She mentioned that ultimate passion is the core password for product breakthrough, and adhering to the original intention is the key guarantee for stable and far-reaching development. Our ultimate goal in process research and development is to achieve comprehensive benchmarking and catching up with the world’s number one.
Liu Yi, a technician from the Ministry of Energy and Environmental Protection, shared his practical insights gained from the spirit of scientists, based on his own experience in automation transformation work. He mentioned that sometimes automation transformation is not about being more precise, but about being more practical and adaptable to the site. Process researchers need to extend their knowledge and understand the characteristics of on-site operations and equipment; Equipment researchers need to extend their knowledge and understand the production process and core logic. Only through cross-border integration and deep cultivation in the front line can they truly deepen their technology and improve their products.
Li Kai, assistant to the head of the wire drawing operation area, shared his core understanding of Fu Jie’s spirit based on his growth experience from interning in multiple processes to becoming the company’s first college student team leader to go down to the production site. He stated that the foundation of innovation is “understanding”. Only by thoroughly understanding the on-site process specifications, workflow, equipment and facilities, and supplementing them with a broad vision and solid knowledge reserves, can true innovation be achieved on the original basis.
