Say No to Bottled Water and Microplastics – Filter Tech

This Saturday, 18th September, a global campaign will come again: Cleanup Day organized by Clean Up the World. As Mother Nature has a limited capacity for self-cleaning, the program aims at contributing to the planet through various local environmental actions. The vision is to inspire billions of people to roll up their sleeves and register any positive action they can take. Even the smallest action can make a world of difference!

The cleanup events are held in nearly every country. The main goal is to combat the solid waste and marine debris problem. Marine debris affects the beach view and the health of marine ecosystem, which in turn has an impact on the marine economy. Such marine debris can be washed ashore in the form of garbage waves. Therefore, the trash pick-up along the beach is among all types of important cleanup events.

Bottled water everywhere! Most trash on the beach are bottled water. The world spends more than $100 billion on bottled water every year. As it’s non-recyclable, the true cost to marine life and nature goes beyond our imagination. Researchers have also been worried about the potential huge threat of microplastics to human health as studies have shown that bottled water contains microplastics. The usage of bottled water means large intake of microplastics.

As the infographic of statista.com shows, the biggest source of microplastics that enters our bodies is bottled water. Yet drinking tap water won’t be much better… The answer? A drinking water filter! Reverse osmosis filtration technology is great solution to protect against microplastics in your water as it removes everything until there’s nothing left but H2O.

What is reverse osmosis?

When two solutions of different salt concentration are separated by a semi-permeable membrane, in a natural way, the water will flow from solution of lower concentrated side to that of higher concentrated side to seek equilibrium, until concentrations on both sides of the membrane are equal.

This process won’t require any energy to take place. And if we do the opposite of what we just described, it actually takes energy. You have to supply more pressure to the higher concentrated side to overcome the natural tendency and push the water flow to pass through the tiny pole of the membrane and get a flow of pure water. The technology used in this process is called reverse osmosis water treatment.

RO is one of the most effective ways to remove contaminants from water and improve the water quality. Go to our product list to find brand-new RO product or more drinking water treatment solutions features RO technology to make a difference. Today we live in a connected world than ever before, and each and every single person should set an example for others to follow. Say no to bottled water. Say no to plastics. You would help put an end to water pollution, marine crisis, and even climate change!
