The Safer LockR team of Gatekeeper Innovation, Inc., recently returned from the eighth annual Rx Drug Abuse & Heroin Summit in Atlanta, Georgia. The event featured leaders from federal, state and local government agencies, law enforcement officials, clinical professionals, educators, public health and prevention officials, and people in recovery and their families.
Underscoring this profound public health crisis, President Donald Trump addressed the more than 3,000 summit attendees. He emphasized the federal government’s commitment to tackling the opioid epidemic by funding research on non-opioid pain management; stopping the import of fentanyl and other synthetic opioids; and developing care systems that support a robust recovery. President Trump emphasized the importance of prevention when he stated, “We know one of the most important steps to ending the opioid crisis is to prevent young people from ever using drugs in the first place.”
The Safer Lock team shared its simple, yet powerful solutions for safe medicine storage with attendees who are deeply committed to turning the tide of the opioid epidemic.
