The album contained the popular singles “Girls Just Want to Have Fun”, “Time After Time”, “She Bop”, and “All Through the Night”, The album also earned Lauper the “Best New Artist” award at the Grammy Awards in 1985. She followed up that huge success with the soundtrack for the motion picture The Goonies and her second record True Colors.
In 2013 she wrote the score for the popular Broadway play Kinky Boots. She went on to win the Tony Award for “Best Original Score” for her hard work. She later received a Grammy Award “Best Musical Theater Album” for Kinky Boots.
