Built in 1903, the former Fire Station No. 3 is a historic piece that was built a couple of years after the devastating 1900 Galveston hurricane. Unfortunately, the fire station was damaged in Hurricane Ike and has remained the shadow of itself since the disaster. Fire Station No. 3 is unlike any other station in the United States. More than just any fire station in the city, the piece is monumental, with its history dating as far back as 1860, after The Star State Company Number 3 built their first permanent structure in 1860, following the establishment of a volunteer fire company by the City of Galveston in 1841. The structure served the company until its destruction in 1900. This led to the erection of the structure in 1903 to be occupied by the Fire Department until it was decommissioned in the sixties. The structure was abandoned in the late 1980s and the situation of the station got even worse after Hurricane Ike, which damaged major parts of the building, including the roof and the walls.
Adam Halifi and his team at Right Choice Restoration have, however, taken charge of the huge task of restoring the structure and bringing back its prestige and rich history. The industry-leading property restoration and construction firm will be doing a complete restoration of the former Fire Station No. 3, which includes the collapsed roofs, leaning walls, and other parts of the building.
