“Having served in the military for over seventeen years, I had to deal with the hair and skin care struggles on an international level. In 2015 I became sick. In order to ensure that I was making the correct health choices I began to research the cause for my condition. What I found was astounding. According to report.nih.gov, by age 50, 70 percent of Caucasians woman and 80 percent of African American woman have fibroids. This condition is the number one cause of hysterectomies as well as other reproductive issues. Several studies have linked the ingredients in beauty products that we use to these conditions. With my health failing, my hair thinning and my alopecia continuously flaring up I decided that I needed to make a change. December 14, 2014, I cut my relaxed hair off. The final length of my hair was ¼ of an inch. I decided to use this time to heal from the inside out. I promised to give myself a two years grace period before I could relax, cut or dye to my hearts content. I began to research alternative hair and skin care products that were of good quality and did not break my spending plan. To my dismay, I was not able to find anything that I loved. So I began to make my own. Less than three years and several formulas later, RESPiRE by DESiGN was created,” says Nyja M. Grant, the CEO of RESPiRE by DESiGN.
