Reza Tajbakhsh, one of Iran’s leading pianists and musicians, proudly announces the completion of his much-anticipated Latin jazz album “Chikology.” In a journey that started in 2021 with the release of the album’s first single track, Tajbakhsh now looks forward to the full release slated for 2024.
“Chikology” boasts of collaborations with a roster of legendary musicians such as Dave Weckl, John Patitucci, Bill Evans on the saxophone, and Al Di Meola on the guitar. These collaborations embody a blend of musical perspectives and experiences, culminating in what Tajbakhsh terms as “the best track I have ever created.” He further adds, “I was fortunate to work with famous musicians like Dave and John because they are the pride of the music world.”
At 41, Tajbakhsh continues to shape and inspire the music scene, both at home and beyond. His influence in Iran stretches to many of the country’s top singers, for whom he has led orchestras since the early 2000s. This leadership role extends to the “Yar” piano academy, one of the Middle East’s largest and most prestigious institutions for aspiring pianists.
Launched in 2021, the academy is the brainchild of Tajbakhsh, Amir Motamedi, and Yalda Samadi. The academy caters to a diverse range of styles with dedicated teachers, whose updated knowledge and teaching prowess have seen “Yar” emerge as one of the top academies in the region.
Reflecting on the journey, Tajbakhsh, the academy’s manager, notes, “We did this too late, but I’m glad it finally happened. I can share my experience and knowledge with young pianists.” The “Yar” academy now hosts 400 students and is recognized as a beautiful, luxurious, and accessible hub of learning, situated on Fereshteh Street in Tehran.

Born on 18th November 1981 in Tehran, Reza Tajbakhsh started his music journey unofficially in 1990, with his formal entry into the industry coming in the early 2000s. An ardent jazz-Latin enthusiast, Tajbakhsh has performed in numerous concerts with his band “E-Jazz”. His accolades include guest artist for the Symphonic Orchestra and best Piano Player in 2012. He was also named Best Pop Music Arranger in 2013.
