Sha Xiaolan, chief director of the opening ceremony of the 4th Asian Para Games Hangzhou 2022, revealed the ideas for the ceremony on Oct 9, which marked the one-year countdown to the Games.

Themed “Hearts Meet, Dreams Shine”, the ceremony will feature a special and touching performance.

“The opening ceremony will show our care and affection for people with disabilities,” said Sha. “For example, Hangzhou boasts a highly developed artificial intelligence industry and we will use some technologies to manifest what people with visual impairments are thinking about when they hear music.”

The chief director added that Hangzhou is a warm and romantic city and that it leads the country in the construction of sidewalks for the people with visual impairments. The ceremony will showcase these elements.

The Hangzhou Asian Para Games is set to take place from Oct 9 to 15, 2022 in Hangzhou and is expected to welcome about 3,800 athletes from 44 countries who will compete in 22 sports.
