Pharmacy Stars Champions Drug Safety with Live Book Discussion Featuring Industry Expert

Green Bay, Wisconsin – Pharmacy Stars, a leading advocate for pharmaceutical quality and safety, proudly announces a groundbreaking live book discussion featuring a renowned industry expert, Martin VanTrieste, President and Chief Executive Officer, Civica Inc. The event, scheduled for November 29th, aims to highlight crucial issues highlighted in a recent FDA report on drug shortages and the enduring solutions proposed.

The FDA’s report identifies one of the key causes of drug shortages as a lack of recognition and reward for manufacturers with “mature quality systems.”Protecting Patients at All Costs: The Drug Watch Dogs,” delves into the challenges of the pharmaceutical industry and proposes strategies for continuous improvement and early detection of supply chain issues.

VanTrieste, a seasoned pharmaceutical quality professional and trained pharmacist, has dedicated significant time and effort to share his insights in this book. “Writing a book was the hardest thing I have ever done. I spent 8 to 10 hours a day for 3 months writing my book,” VanTrieste shared. The inspiration for his book arose from a health scare that led to an unexpected discovery of kidney cancer, providing him with a unique perspective on the pharmaceutical industry’s challenges and the critical role of quality assurance.

Pharmacy Stars is delighted to facilitate this enlightening discussion as part of its commitment to advancing pharmaceutical quality and safety. VanTrieste’s message underscores the importance of quality assurance processes in health system pharmacies, aligning with the USP standards for compounded sterile preparations. The live book discussion aims to inspire health system pharmacy leaders, who rely on pharmaceutical manufacturers for drug supplies and adhere to stringent quality control processes.

“We are delighted to be able to provide copies of his book and sponsor his book talk”, remarked Keith Streckenbach, CEO of Pharmacy Stars. He went on to say, “The fact that Martin is not only a seasoned and well-regarded pharmaceutical quality professional, but also the founder of CivicaRx, and a trained pharmacist, makes his book such a perfect read for health system pharmacy leaders.”

In the face of evolving challenges in sterile compounding and drug shortages, Pharmacy Stars advocates for a proactive approach. VanTriesteTrieste’s book shares his experiences and aligns with the FDA’s suggestion of developing a rating system to incentivize manufacturers toward investing in quality management maturity for their facilities.
