PONTIAC, Mich. – November 5, 2026 – For Performance Roofing & Siding, completing a home improvement project means more than finishing another job. It also means another $10 committed to Metro Food Rescue, a Southeast Michigan nonprofit working to keep good food from going to waste and get it to people who need it.
The Michigan-based roofing and exterior remodeling company has made giving part of its everyday operations, pledging $10 for every job it completes. Unlike a seasonal fundraiser or one-time charitable campaign, the commitment has no planned end date.
Performance Roofing & Siding typically completes 30 to 50 projects each month, generating an estimated $300 to $500 in monthly contributions through its $10-per-job commitment. Based on Metro Food Rescue’s estimate that every dollar donated can help provide the equivalent of nine meals, even the lower end of that range could support the distribution of more than 30,000 meals over a year.
Helping Good Food Reach the People Who Need It
While perfectly usable food goes to waste, families across Michigan continue to depend on local food pantries and community organizations for support. Metro Food Rescue works to close that gap.
The nonprofit rescues surplus food that would otherwise be discarded and delivers it to organizations serving people facing food insecurity throughout Southeast Michigan. By recovering and redistributing food, Metro Food Rescue helps community feeding programs access resources without paying for the food itself.
For Performance Roofing & Siding, supporting that work is a practical way to contribute to the communities where its customers live.
Joel Boyd, Owner of Performance Roofing and Siding shared:
“We spend our days helping people take care of their homes. But being part of a community means looking out for our neighbors, too. Setting aside $10 from every job is a simple way for us to keep supporting Metro Food Rescue and the important work they’re doing. We want that support to continue for as long as we’re doing business.”
A Partnership Rooted in Community Support
Metro Food Rescue relies on contributions to help cover the logistics of collecting, transporting and distributing rescued food. As those operating costs rise, support from local businesses helps the organization sustain its work.
Chad Techner of Metro Food Rescue expressed his appreciation for the company’s commitment:
“We are so grateful to be the non profit partner for Performance Roofing. Not only do their customers get a great new roof at a fair price, but now every job also helps feed our neighbors in need. At Metro Food Rescue we deliver high quality surplus food to more than 150 food pantries and soup kitchens in the Metro Detroit area. In total we provide more than 750,000 meals each month to our neighbors in need. These days with the price of diesel and other costs rising, it’s so important to have great partners like performance roofing to help us provide this food at no charge to our partner agencies.”
The figures Techner shared reflect Metro Food Rescue’s broader food distribution efforts, supported by businesses, donors and other community partners.
Although November brings increased attention to charitable giving, Performance Roofing & Siding’s commitment is designed to continue throughout the year.
