PA66 (Polyamide 66) also industrially recognized as Nylon 66 is an engineering grade thermoplastic. It has hexamethylenediamine and adipic acid as its major chemical constituents. PA66 is often used for certain industrial applications due to its better rigidity and mechanical strength along with good resistance to heat. They also exhibit properties of good chemical resistance, stiffness, abrasion and hardness properties. This makes it perfect for being extensively used for industrial, automotive, electrical & electronics and consumer applications. Compared to PA6 this variant of Polyamide 66 has higher strength but lack in impact resistance. This is owing to the difference it their respective chemical structures as Nylon 6 is constructed from 1 monomer having 6 carbon atoms whereas Nylon 66 is constructed from 2 monomers each having 6 carbon atoms.
