Jason Brick, a freelance writer and editor based in Hillsboro, Oregon, has announced an exciting new crowdfunding for his upcoming flash fiction anthology. “Worth 1,000 Words” contains creative work from 100 contributors, all no more than 1,000 words each. Authors range from well-known, established professionals to first-timers, and were sourced from the USA, Canada, the UK, South America, Malaysia, China and the Netherlands. Stories will range a variety of different genres, from horror to romance.
This worldwide collection of short fiction is the fourth installment in Brick’s anthology series, preceded by “Baby Shoes,” “Flash” and “Itty Bitty Writing Space,” all of which followed the same 1,000-word concept. In addition to Brick, the production team behind “Worth 1,000 Words” consists of four fiction fanatics who oversee cover design, editing and technical advice.
With a total goal of $1,000, funds received from the campaign will be used to cover costs related to marketing, printing, layout, fees and design. Any additional funds gathered — up to $10,000 — will go towards raises for each author. Until December 3, early backers can pledge as little as $10 to secure their own eBook of “Worth 1,000 Words” or $25 for a physical copy, both of which are expected to be delivered by December.
