SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – October 6, 2026 – New York ranks as America’s most Botox-obsessed state in a new 50-state analysis from Avinity Health, while Colorado takes second place ahead of California.

The Botox Obsession Index compares population-adjusted Botox search demand, providers and clinics per resident, and relative search interest across all 50 states. The results challenge some familiar assumptions about where Botox interest is strongest.

New York ranks first overall. Colorado narrowly takes second, finishing ahead of California, while Florida and Massachusetts round out the top five. Mississippi finishes last.

America’s Most Botox-Obsessed States

Top 10:

1. New York

2. Colorado

3. California

4. Florida

5. Massachusetts

6. Arizona

7. Washington

8. New Jersey

9. Nevada

10. Connecticut

Bottom five: 46. Indiana 47. Arkansas 48. Iowa 49. West Virginia 50. Mississippi

Because search demand and provider and clinic supply are calculated per resident, large states do not automatically rise to the top. Texas has the second-largest estimated raw Botox search volume in the country but ranks 15th overall once population is taken into account.

Botox Obsession Has a Geography

Nine of the top 10 states are in the West or Northeast, while the Midwest places no state in the top 10. Florida is the only Southern state to make the top 10. The West and Northeast place no states in the bottom 10, while the Midwest places four.

Search Demand and Provider Supply Do Not Always Match

Some of the largest differences in the index emerge when Botox search demand is compared with provider and clinic supply. New York ranks #1 in the country for estimated Botox searches per resident but only #7 for providers and clinics per resident, creating the largest gap between search demand and supply among the highest-ranking states. Other states show the opposite pattern, with provider and clinic supply substantially outpacing local search demand.

The measures reflect population-adjusted search activity and provider availability, not procedures performed or appointment capacity.

Florida Is America’s Botox Supply Capital

Florida has more Botox providers and clinics per resident than any other state in the country, while its search-demand ranking sits considerably lower. New York shows the opposite pattern, with search demand running well ahead of its provider and clinic supply.

“Masseter Botox” Is the #2 Botox Search in America

“Masseter botox,” commonly searched in connection with jaw Botox, draws an estimated 74,020 U.S. searches per month, making it the second-most-searched term in the study behind only “botox” itself. The figures measure estimated search activity during the study period and do not show whether interest is increasing or decreasing over time.

Mississippi Finishes Last

Mississippi ranks #50 overall, with the lowest estimated Botox searches per resident and the fewest providers and clinics per resident of any state.

“California may have the Botox reputation, but Colorado performs remarkably well across the measures we examined. It isn’t just searching for Botox at a high rate; it also has one of the country’s densest provider and clinic markets,” said Emily Dawson, Co-founder and Clinical Director of Avinity Health.

“The most interesting part of the study may not be who finished first. It is where search demand and provider supply separate. Some states are searching far more aggressively than their supply would suggest, while others have built much larger provider numbers relative to local search interest,” Dawson said.

How the Botox Obsession Index Was Calculated

The index combines three components:

  • Estimated average monthly search volume for 31 Botox-related terms from the Google Ads API, calculated per 100,000 residents and weighted at 50%
  • Clinicians listed in the NPPES national registry under relevant dermatology and plastic surgery taxonomy codes, plus skin care clinic locations from the Google Places Aggregate API, combined as providers and clinics per 100,000 residents and weighted at 35%
  • Google Trends relative search interest for “botox,” weighted at 15%

Population data comes from the U.S. Census Bureau American Community Survey 2024. Each component is normalized from 0 to 100 and combined into a composite score used to rank all 50 states. Displayed scores are truncated, not rounded, to one decimal.

All figures reflect a single measurement period. The index measures relative search interest and provider availability and does not claim to measure Botox procedure volume, market growth or changes over time.
