New Release Teaches Children How to Deal with Mistakes and Forgive

Pepper is a little porcupine who is learning how to be a good friend. After saving two little raccoons in Pepper’s Delightful Discovery, he wants to plan a party to celebrate their new friendship in Terri Nekvinda’s sequel, Pepper Plans a Party (Redemption Press, August 2017). But he doesn’t want to invite the possums and bullfrogs because they laughed at him when he couldn’t do what they were doing.

In this picture/story book, young children will learn we all make mistakes and need to be forgiven as they read how Pepper swallows his pride and decides to talk to the possums and bullfrogs. When he does, Pepper finds he was mistaken about what his friends were thinking.

Author Terrene “Terri” Nekvinda, a retired elementary school teacher says, “I’ve seen hurting children and adults who are robbed of their joy when they experience a hurtful confrontation by family members or friends.” In Pepper Plans a Party, Pepper’s mother tells the young porcupine, “Pepper, holding on to your anger makes you unhappy. It robs you of your joy, and you distance yourself from God. We all do things we’re sorry for and need to be forgiven.”

The Iowa resident keeps her pulse on children’s needs and issues by serving as a guest teacher in her grandchildren’s school classrooms.

Pepper Plans a Party is available in hardcover, softcover, and as a coloring book.
