NEW RELEASE OFFERS HOPE FOR ABUSE AND TRAUMA SUFFERERS

Enumclaw, WA—According to the American Psychological Association (www.apa.com), approximately one-half of all individuals will experience a traumatic event in their lifetimes. Traumatic events include physical, psychological, and sexual abuse; terrorism and war; domestic violence; witnessing violence against others; and accidents and natural disasters. The consequences can be stressful and serious for both survivors and their families. The APA says most will absorb the trauma over time, but many experience long-lasting problems. Approximately 8 percent of survivors will develop post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Research indicates that women are twice as likely to develop PTSD, and negative consequences. Although women are at greater risk for negative consequences following traumatic events, many often hesitate to seek mental health treatment. Survivors often wait years to receive help, while others never receive treatment at all. Untreated symptoms not only have tremendous mental and physical health implications, such as headaches, gastro-intestinal problems, and sexual dysfunction, as well as relational difficulties.

While the medical profession offers a variety of treatment interventions for women who have survived traumatic events, including cognitive-behavioral therapy, group treatment, pharmacotherapy, and psychodynamic intervention, Rice says the answer is found elsewhere. In her new release, Lord, I’m Broken (Redemption Press 2016), author Carolyn Rice reaches out to women who have searched for healing, for something to take away the hurt and pain. Rice shares hope from a Christian viewpoint, especially for women sufferers. She says, “It’s time to stop searching; the answer is right before you. His name is Jesus.” Rice says, “We are never too broken for God. As we surrender to Him, He will take our broken pieces and make them into something beautiful.”

Rice is acquainted with trauma and abuse. She writes for women who long to be “rid of the brokenness that seems to be with you every second of every day.” In Lord, I’m Broken, Rice shares her own story of healing from trauma and abuse of the past. “I want women to know that there is hope, there is healing, freedom and joy as we surrender our hurt and pain to Him. God has a plan for your restoration. You may have been overlooked, passed by, judged and forgotten. Rejection may have climbed its way into your heart, and you may feel unloved and alone. But the Lord looks upon you with love in His eyes. He sees beauty and value in you. Give him your mess, and He will make it into something beautiful.” For more information: https://www.amazon.com/Lord-Im-Broken-90-Day-Devotional/dp/1683140834/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1471365874&sr=8-1&keywords=Lord%2C+i%27m+broken+carolyn+rice
