KATY, TX – July 20, 2022 – The COVID-19 Pandemic is a season of change and innovation. Premier Internal Medicine Associates of Houston (PIMAH) is stepping up to meet patients’ needs head-on in this challenging time with new televisits, an updated patient portal, and additional services for diagnosing and managing chronic diseases.
PIMAH’s new Chronic Disease Management program’s first goal is to improve the coordination of a patient’s health care needs. This program provides a 24/7 concierge-type approach to medicine, which connects patients personally with their medical providers. PIMAH accepts insurance, and it was established as a clinic in 2010.
“We want to keep an open line of communication and around-the-clock medical access for our patients,” Dr. Nadia Abbasi, internist and program director, said. “When chronic diseases are managed adequately, patients can live more happily for longer.”
Chronic diseases can last from months to years. Unfortunately, these diseases are painful and difficult for many Americans to handle. According to PIMAH, an estimated 99 million people suffer from chronic illnesses. Although disease prevention is ideal, managing symptoms for patients is often the reality because it directly affects their quality of life. Some of those diseases include arthritis, high blood pressure, chronic pain conditions, Alzheimer’s disease, cancer, heart disease, diabetes, asthma, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and HIV/AIDS.
“Our Chronic Disease Management is created to do three things: reduce healthcare costs, ensure best primary care, and improve the outcome of a patient’s life,” Dr. Abbasi said. “I will always emphasize preventive efforts and encourage regular check-ups. I am also open to the use of alternative treatments to help my patients. Their pain and other needs come first. I believe medicine is about building a trusted patient-physician partnership.”
A visit with Dr. Abbasi or her colleagues involves a direct yet kind assessment of health risks, symptom management, lifestyle factors, and a nutritional evaluation.
In 2010, Dr. Abbasi finished her residency at the University of Illinois at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Chicago. She moved to the Houston area in 2013 and practices in the major hospitals in the Houston Area. Dr. Abbasi is accepting new patients.
