New Children’s Book Explores the True Meaning of Leadership and Influence in Middle School

Georgia – Vontavious C. Howell, a dedicated educator and mentor, announces the release of his new book, Steady Greatness: Influence Is Given. Impact Is Built. Set against the backdrop of Hancock Middle School, the story follows a student named Tae as he discovers that leadership is not about being the loudest voice, but about the quiet choices made every day.

In Steady Greatness, Tae learns that while he naturally possesses influence, people listen when he speaks and follow his lead, influence without discipline can be a dangerous thing. After a humbling experience during a school presentation, Tae is guided by his family’s legacy of “steady greatness” and the mentorship of his teachers to understand that real impact must be earned through accountability and preparation.

“This story is about learning that real leadership is earned quietly, choice by choice,” says Howell. “Influence can be given, but impact must be built through consistent effort and wise guidance.”

The book features a comprehensive “Definitions” section to help young readers grasp essential character-building concepts such as:
