DETROIT, MI – A premier day-trip excursion to Chicago has been announced for May 02, 2026, centered around the highly anticipated HBCU Baseball Classic at the historic Wrigley Field. In a significant boost to the initiative, Billy Wilson, President and Founder of the Motown Alumni Association, has thrown his full support behind the event to help drive interest and maximize participation among Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) students and the Detroit community. The excursion offers a curated experience for sports fans and city explorers alike, providing a seamless travel bridge between Detroit and the Windy City.
Beyond the athletic competition, the initiative aims to celebrate HBCU culture and provide students with unique networking and recreational opportunities in one of the nation’s most iconic sports venues.
Itinerary and Event Details:
The round-trip luxury bus transport is scheduled to depart from the Meijer parking lot at 12 Mile and Telegraph Road at 8:00 am on May 02.
To enhance the travel experience, the trip includes a two-hour midday stop at the Michigan City Outlet Mall for shopping before arriving in Chicago. While the HBCU Baseball Classic game is set to begin at 6:00 pm at Wrigley Field, the excursion is designed for flexibility.
Participants are not required to attend the game and may instead spend their day enjoying the diverse offerings of Chicago, including:
Indulging in Chicago’s world-famous deep-dish pizza or a romantic dinner.
Touring the city’s architectural landscape and waterfront.
Attending an Off-Broadway stage play.
Visiting with local friends and family.

The cost for the round-trip excursion is $150 ($75 each way). Following the conclusion of the game and evening activities, the bus will depart Chicago promptly at 10:00 pm—a mandatory cutoff for all passengers—with an anticipated return to Detroit between 3:00 am and 4:00 am.
