Late in the evening of December 13th, Sacramento Police were able to report that Aeris Hammock had been successfully located after a five-day search for the 24-year-old from Roseville who had gone missing last Friday afternoon.
Police were quick to thank everyone associated with the search, which included multiple media outlets, USPA Nationwide Security assets and investigators from Kingsman Philanthropic Corp.
“The media coverage was the key ingredient to locating Aeris” said Brian Fitzgibbons, USPA’s Vice President of Security Operations. “Nancy Grace covering Aeris’ disappearance was what kept her story alive with local news outlets.”
According to USPA’s lead investigator on this case, Rodney Brown, it was Fox40 Sacramento’s coverage on Wednesday evening that brought in numerous tips that located Aeris. A veteran of the Navy’s elite SEAL Team 6, Brown says that many cases don’t have outcomes like this.
“We are relieved to have found Aeris alive,” Brown said.
Activating numerous resources, the investigative team from USPA Nationwide Security’s nonprofit wing, Kingsman, worked around the clock.
Hammock’s father said that he is incredibly grateful for efforts of law enforcement officials from the Sacramento PD as well as the private investigative work done by USPA. “The team from USPA provided us a true reminder that there are good people left in the world.”
The day Hammock went missing, she was last seen in the area of 3rd Avenue and 30th Street, near the locally popular Gunther’s Ice Cream.
After her parents, Leilani and Charles Hammock were unable to reach their daughter for a few hours, they became quite concerned.
Around 10:00pm that evening, Aeris’ vehicle was discovered in a cul-de-sac off of 3rd Avenue. “It was particularly concerning to us that all of her belongings were in the vehicle: phone, wallet, keys, etc.” said Dan Manning, USPA’s CEO.
In the days following Aeris’ disappearance, the investigation grew. Numerous residents provided Ring camera surveillance video to aid in the search for Aeris.
Fitzgibbons, a Marine Corps Iraq war veteran, came to USPA after serving as a contractor on similar rescue operations with Kingsman. “Within hours of getting formally involved in this case, we had a team built, a method to collect tips, a missing persons website up and flyers with a reward being posted around Sacramento,” Fitzgibbons said.
USPA’s CEO, Dan Manning, indicated that, while this kidnap recovery team, task organized to assist in the search for Aeris will be standing down, they remain ready to respond to the next case.
