MICHAEL HEMPSEED IS TURNING FAILURES INTO SUCCESS WITH HIS LIFE-CHANGING APPROACH

PROFESSIONAL SPEAKER IS HELPING EVERYONE FROM MILLIONAIRES TO THOUSANDS OF SCHOOL CHILDREN WITH THEIR FEARS OF FAILURE

January 15, 2018 – Entrepreneur and TEDx speaker from New Zealand, Michael Hempseed is changing lives and inspiring people by helping them accept and overcome failure. With years of research and personal experience, Michael has discovered many links between fear, failure, depression and in some cases suicide. In 2016 Michael gave a TEDx talk in which he bravely shared all his failures for the world to see.

“Failure is often kept quiet and that silence can be fatal,” Michael said “Researchers are discovering more and more that quite a lot suicides are the result of a same day crisis, where a person was fine in the morning then they experience a crisis, such as a relationship break up, being fired from a job or some other failure.”

Michael repeatedly emphasizes the fact that nobody likes to fail, because not only is it embarrassing but also heartbreaking. “I think one of the worst parts of failure is thinking that you are the only one who has failed.”

I talk to thousands of people each year from multi-millionaires, doctors, lawyers, accountants, school children, drug addicts and even prisoners.” “Everyone has a secret’ everyone has failed in some way. When we hide that failure, that’s when things go wrong. After I give a talk I often have people coming up to tell me the tragic stories of young men who take their own life after they were fired from a job or a break up. I’ve heard similar stories over and over again, it’s just heartbreaking.”

“I don’t think we will ever truly know what someone thinks in those final moments, but we can all imagine the overwhelming shame and agony of being fired from a job.”

“Failure does not need to end in suicide. Let’s take that young man who got fired from a job, if he never hears about anyone else was successful, who got fired he will think he is a looser. What would happen if people were more open about their failures? What would happen if that young man knew lots of successful people who lost a job or many jobs? Perhaps, instead of considering suicide he would think that he can overcome his failure. In order for this to happen we need everyone to be more open about their failures and the times they’ve got it wrong.

Failure is often fatal but it doesn’t need to be. I discovered that failure can be redeemed and even become a positive experience.” “Suicide is a very complex problem; my solution won’t address every situation. But I do believe it can reduce a significant number of suicides. Imagine if being open about your failure could save just one life, well then I think it would be well and truly worth it.”

Michael also runs a full time HR company. His real passion is working in the field of suicide prevention, on average he gives 2-3 talks per week on different topics about mental illness.
