Messiah’el Bey is an author, composer, electronic musician, DJ, filmmaker, music producer, and poet from Hempstead, Long Island. He is popularly known by his pseudonym and trademark, Warlock Asylum. From a very young age, Messiah’el Bey has been inclined towards music. His mother was a self-taught pianist, whose musical compositions were applauded by experts from the music industry in the late 1940s. As a teenager, Bey learned the keyboard and at the age of 14, he bagged his first recording contract.
During the 90s, Bey founded the legendary rap group, Gras Ruts & So Speshal with Paul Leiba, his longtime friend and music producer. As a child, Bey wrote poetry, a hobby that became a profession when he started working as a performance poet in the late 90’s.
Over the years, Bey has made innumerable appearances at the Nuyorican Poets Café, Bowery Poetry Club, City College, ABC No Rio, and other venues. He also released in 2000, “Ghetto Wars Part 1: The Glass Onion”, a compilation of some of New York City’s finest poets. Bey has authored several books on mystical and shamanic thoughts and is considered to be one of the few spiritualists initiated in ancient Mesopotamian spirituality, Shinto, and founder of a distinct form of ethno-shamanism called the Art of Ninzuwu. Under the brand name of Warlock Asylum, Bey began to explore his creativity and his production skills.
