MESA, Ariz. – July 30, 2026 – When someone in Mesa searches for a plumber, a dentist, or somewhere to eat, the answer increasingly arrives as a short list of business names written by AI and placed at the top of the page, before the familiar search results.
Monsoons AI, a new company based in Mesa, helps local businesses appear on that list and measures whether it happened.
The work is known in the industry as answer engine optimization, or AEO, and sometimes as generative engine optimization, or GEO. Both describe the same shift: being named inside an AI-written answer rather than ranked in a list of links.
Google’s AI answers, Gemini, ChatGPT, and Perplexity now respond to questions such as, “Who should I hire to fix my water heater in Mesa?” with a handful of recommendations. A business left out of that answer has no equivalent of a second page on which to appear.
The commercial argument is about position.
On Google, the AI answer commonly appears above the organic results, which is the part of the page most people see first. Unlike the ad slots on the same page, there is no way to buy a place inside it. A business earns the mention, or it does not appear.
“Being fourth on Google was survivable. Being left out of a three-name answer is not,” said Hyrum Hurst, founder of Monsoons AI.
“And you cannot outspend your way into it. That is the part local owners find hardest to believe and easiest to verify. It takes about ten minutes to see what AI currently says about your business.”
Monsoons AI serves Mesa, Gilbert, Chandler, Tempe, Queen Creek, and Apache Junction. The company focuses on storefront and service businesses, including restaurants, cafés, salons, dentists, auto repair shops, gyms, and home-service trades such as plumbing, HVAC, landscaping, and junk removal.
MEASUREMENT, NOT ASSURANCES
The company’s differentiator is that it publishes how it checks its own work.
Monsoons agrees on a fixed set of questions with each client, records how the assistants answer them before any work begins, then reruns the identical set afterward and compares the results.
Every question is run repeatedly rather than only once because assistants do not return the exact same answer every time. Every run is also made from a clean session with no account history.
A business owner’s logged-in ChatGPT account may be personalized to them and can show results that a prospective customer would never see.
The threshold that must be met, the questions, the assistants, and the deadline are all written into the agreement before work begins. The standard is published on the company’s website rather than described only during a sales call.
If the company misses the standard, a second campaign is run at its own cost. If it misses again, the remaining balance is refunded.
CORRECTING WHAT ASSISTANTS ALREADY SAY
Alongside helping businesses get named, the company addresses a second problem that many owners do not realize exists.
AI assistants often answer confidently even when their information is incorrect. They may provide outdated business hours, services a company no longer offers, an old phone number, or information belonging to a similarly named competitor.
“Most owners assume that if AI is wrong about them, there is nothing to be done,” Hurst said.
“There usually is. The answer is being assembled from sources you can actually fix.”
Monsoons AI also builds websites using AI-assisted development tools. This keeps the cost of development down and can replace a monthly subscription a business has been paying for a website it does not own.
Clients own the finished website outright.
The company sells its services modularly. A business can purchase a single project and be finished, or it can have Monsoons build and maintain a system through a monthly retainer that may be canceled at any time.
Package contents and starting prices are published rather than disclosed only during a sales call.
THE TEAM
Monsoons AI was founded by Hyrum Hurst, an AI Automation and Training Engineer at a Washington, D.C.-based AI training company.
He ranks among the top 50 creators worldwide on n8n’s public community leaderboard for the automation platform.
Hurst’s work is primarily national and technical. He builds automation systems, trains people to operate them, and works alongside QuarterSmart, an AI studio based in Mesa.
He created Monsoons AI to apply those same methods to businesses in his own city. Hurst developed the company’s measurement process and trained the team to use it, while the team manages the client accounts.
“Almost nothing I work on has anything to do with Mesa. This does,” Hurst said.
“The businesses I grew up going to are about to become invisible to the way their own customers search, and nobody local was going to tell them.”
Day-to-day operations are handled by a team drawn from the East Valley.
Cullen Brown, head of growth, is self-taught in AI and software and builds the measurement tools behind the company’s guarantee.
Grady Sherwood, head of partnerships, works on commission and previously cold-called and closed life insurance sales.
Jace Anderson, operations advisor, is the co-founder of JJ’s Junk Removal, a registered Mesa company that works with contractors.
Samuel Miranda manages published coverage and campaign records.
Together, the team has more than a decade of combined sales experience and a shared dislike of how the sales industry often operates.
The company says that experience is why it publishes its standards, guarantees a defined outcome, and allows clients to purchase only the services they need.
WHAT THE COMPANY WILL NOT PROMISE
Monsoons AI publishes the limits of its services alongside its offer.
The company states that it cannot promise a first-place position because answer engines do not return traditional ranked lists.
It also explains that visibility from any single campaign may fade as competitors publish new information and that it does not guarantee a specific number of leads or a particular amount of revenue.
“We would rather explain the part that fades on day one than have a client discover it in month three,” Hurst said.
The company offers a free initial audit.
During the audit, Monsoons runs questions that a business’s customers would plausibly ask across major AI assistants and returns screenshots of the results, including the names the assistants currently recommend instead of the client.
ABOUT MONSOONS AI
Monsoons AI is an answer engine optimization company based in Mesa, Arizona, serving businesses throughout the East Valley.
The company is named after the Arizona monsoon.
The storm is the part people notice, while the water that soaks into the ground and replenishes what lies beneath it is the part that lasts.
Monsoons AI applies the same distinction to its work, separating the fast, visible increase in AI citations from the slower, more durable digital record beneath it.
