Mental-Health clinician, author, and Hip-Hop Culture Pusher, Dr. Randy Sconiers, joined other celebrities on the Silence the Shame Panel to kick off National Mental Health Awareness Month

Dr. Randy Sconiers, popularly known as Dr. S has again reiterated his support for mental health awareness as he joined other celebrities to kick off National Mental Health Awareness Month with the Silence the Shame/Music Cares “The Soundtrack of Mental-Health: Vol. 2” event in NYC. Dr. S has always been an advocate of mental health, participating in different mental-health conversations and ultimately founding Mental-Hop, a Mental-Health Education outfit that aims to raise awareness about mental health through Hip-Hop Culture.

Hip-Hop has gone through a series of evolution and seems to have passed the stage of emotional disguise that has led to disastrous endings due to drugs, violence or suicide. The culture currently throws it weight behind laudable causes such mental health and helping people to deal with trauma and depression. One of the major persons that have been at the forefront of this movement is Dr. Randy Sconiers.

His recent addition to the list of panelists at the Silence the Shame/Music Cares “The Soundtrack of Mental-Health: Vol. 2” event in NYC is a further reiteration of Dr. S’s dedication to promoting mental health. In addition to being among the panelists at the Silence the Shame event, Dr. S has also used his wealth of experience and training as a Doctor of Social Work and a New Licensed Clinical Social Worker to initimate thousands on people about mental health, recognized by the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) for his immense effort of using Hip hop music to help his clients open up about mental health.

The Huffington Post also identified Dr. S as “1 of 15 Black Male Therapist You Should Know,” as well as the National Association of Social Workers of New Jersey. Dr. S has also been on a Radio/TV show called Street Soldiers with Lisa Evers that airs on Hot97.1 and NY’s Fox 5 TV station.

Dr. Randy Sconiers is also open to speaking engagements at schools, Mental-Health Expert panels as he aims to continue promoting awareness about mental health.
