WASHINGTON, DC – April 13th, 2020 – The premiere of the long-awaited film Sinners Wanted, written and directed by The Jenkins Brothers (Joshua and Jimmy Jenkins), and produced by MegaMind Media’s principal Tressa Azarel Smallwood, reached major success during its release on Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday on TV ONE.
Starring Clifton Powell, Lamman Rucker and Traci Braxton (from Braxton Family Values); Ashley Rios; Kenneth Wayne, and Roland Martin, Sinners Wanted follows the story of Leo Shepherd, a young, vibrant minister from Macon, Georgia, who relocates to Washington, DC, for an opportunity to pastor Grace Community Church.
On the first night of his installment in D.C., Leo meets Ginger Clementine a.k.a. GiGi, a local prostitute to whom he is instantly attracted to. It’s not long before Leo and GiGi grow closer and develop feelings for each other. However, objections immediately arise once the church finds out about their relationship, seeing as the congregation believes that GiGi will be detrimental to the church’s image. Despite the church’s demands and GiGi’s troubled past, Leo falls deeply in love with her, and asks for her hand in marriage. Their holy union, though, turns out to be catastrophic, as it soon reveals both Leo’s and GiGi’s past.
“It’s interesting to see what Leo and Gigi do, and whether or not they are gonna make it,” said Mr. Lamman Rucker.
Commenting on the film’s symbolism, Mr. Clifton Powell said, “Church is a weigh station for sinners, and when he meets this prostitute, it’s like, so what if she’s a prostitute; she is still a human being. I think People will walk away from this movie and see what true love is, and what true forgiveness is. When we point a finger at someone else, it’s three pointing back at us.”
The film was executive produced by Pastor John K. Jenkins and Tressa Azarel Smallwood.
“When asked to produce Sinners Wanted, it was a no-brainer,” said Smallwood. “I knew that a movie addressing forgiveness and judgement teetering around a pastor marrying a prostitute would change the thinking of many. This movie had to happen and partnering with TV One was genius on behalf of all involved.”
